Last week, I was involved as an official video/photographer in the Yukon Quest 2018! I had to shoot footage in extreme cold conditions (-45°!) and that was not easy. During the first 24 hours, I broke my monopod and my tripod: the plastic parts broke under extreme cold and wet weather above the Yukon River in Dawson city.
After 10mn all electronic device slow down and my camera screen had a 2sec delay…
If you have to go OUT/IN many times, don’t forget to put your camera and lenses in plastic bag, so that condensation will stay outside the plastic bag and won’t freeze your lens.
Last important thing: don’t forget to open hand warmers one hour before you’ll take pictures. Your fingers will need some!
